Suspect involved in Judge Arshad Malik’s video scandal remanded into FIA’s custody

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested on Wednesday Tariq Mahmood for his alleged involvement in the leaked video controversy involving an accountability court Judge Arshad Malik.

The FIA presented the suspect before a court where Civil Judge Shaista Kundi granted the agency a two-day physical remand of Mahmood. The court has ordered to present him again on Friday along with his medical report, local media reported.

At a presser, Maryam Nawaz showed videos of the judge telling Nasir Butt, a loyal fan of Nawaz Sharif, that he was pressured into convicting Nawaz in the Al-Azizia case. Following the video controversy, the Islamabad High Court had then ordered the removal of Judge Malik from his post as the accountability court judge.
