SC declares Saira eligible for contesting election

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday declared PML-N leader Saira Afzal Tarar eligible to contest election from NA-87 Hafizabad.
A two-member Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed rejected contender Shaukat Ali Bhatti's application seeking disqualification of Saira Afzal Tarar for not mentioning two bank accounts in her nomination papers.
Similarly, the apex court allowed PTI's Fawad Chaudhry to contest election from NA-67 Jhelum rejecting petition by his opponent Waheed Gohar.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court rejected petition of PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi against the Islamabad High Court's order to anti-narcotics court to conduct hearing into ephedrine case against him daily and give judgment till Saturday.
