Fawad Hasan Fawad remanded in NAB custody

*LAHORE: An accountability court of Lahore on Tuesday remanded, principal secretary of former two prime ministers, Fawad Hassan Fawad in National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) custody for a day. *

The anti-graft watchdog apprehended the senior bureaucrat – accused in various cases – on July 5 and produced the top civil servant before an accountability court today.

The bureau’s prosecutor enlightened the court about the charges against Fawad which contended that the government officer had misused his authority and awarded the contract to CASA Developers in the Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Scheme.

The charges against the accused further entail causing the loss of billions of rupees to the national exchequer in various scams and burying a file of the inquiry committee.

The accountability court then remanded Fawad in NAB’s custody till July 18.

Three corruption cases against former premier Nawaz Sharif’s principal secretary involve Ashiana Housing Scheme, illegal employment in a private bank and unlawful transfer of nine CNG stations.

Fawad has served as the principal secretary of two former prime ministers, Nawaz Sharif and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi during the recent PML-N government.
