PM Imran Khan held important meeting in Islamabad over new E Commerce Policy

ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Imran Khan says the PTI-led government is committed to provide congenial atmosphere to businessmen and foreign investors in the country.

He was addressing a high-level meeting in Islamabad today (Friday) to review measures taken for effective implementation of recently introduced E-commerce policy in the country.

The prime minister said E-commerce policy will help provide job opportunities to youth, promote small and medium-scale businesses, provide empowerment to women and enhance foreign direct investment in the country.

During the meeting, the prime minister was given a detailed briefing on the government's measures taken for effective implementation of the policy.

The meeting was told that an effective strategy has been chalked out for early implementation of the E-commerce policy, and E- Commerce Export Board will be established soon for this purpose.

The prime minister directed the State Bank of Pakistan and Ministry of Commerce to chalk a roadmap to help youth to take maximum benefits from this policy.

The prime minister also directed the authorities to review proposals regarding waiving off taxes on Cash on Delivery and digital transactions.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister's Advisor Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaik, Secretary Finance, chairman National Information Technology Board, and senior officers of Ministry of Commerce, State Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan Post.
