West Indies announce squad for first Test against England

The West Indies have named their squad for the first Test against England, with Darren Bravo and Alzarri Joseph earning recalls.

Jamaica batsman John Campbell and Barbados’ Shamarh Brooks have also been included, both receiving their maiden Test call-ups. While Joseph has been included in the squad, Oshane Thomas has been named as cover for the 22-year old fast bowler, who is still on the comeback trail after a stress fracture.

Jason Holder, who missed the two-match Test series against Bangladesh with injury, is back to lead the side. Bravo’s return will see him in line for a first Test appearance since November 2016, although he did feature in the limited-overs matches against Bangladesh.

Squad: Jason Holder (captain), Kraigg Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Shamarh Brooks, John Campbell, Roston Chase, Shane Dowrich, Shannon Gabriel, Shimron Hetmyer, Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach, Jomel Warrican.
