MoU signed b/w Pak, China to enhance bilateral cooperation in forests sector

The Ministry of Climate Change and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration of China signed a memorandum of understanding in Islamabad on Monday to enhance bilateral cooperation in forests sector.

The MoU was signed by Prime Minister's Advisor on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing.

It envisages protection of forests and wild life, checking climate change affects on forests, better use of water resources, and reclamation of salinity hit lands and promoting bilateral cooperation in research on forests and environment.

Earlier, addressing a joint press conference along with the Chinese Ambassador, the Advisor lauded China for actively participating in the climate change conference and pursuing the ecosolization path.

He said Pakistan is ready to cooperate with China in this regard and can learn a lot from its experiences in the forest sector.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chinese envoy said Prime Minister Imran Khan accords high importance to the climate sphere and is also striving for sustainable development.

He said China and Pakistan have identical views and mission on tackling the climate change issue.
