PIA to be completely revamped: Minister

ISLAMABAD (APP): Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad on Tuesday said that the government was working on complete revamping of Pakistan Airline (PIA) talking on a Calling Attention Order in the National Assembly, the minister said that the present government has increased the number of aeroplane in the fleet of PIA to facilitate the passengers.
He said that some international routes of PIA have been canceled due to heavy financial losses. He however said that steps were being taken to restart service from these routes.
He said that on August 14, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had inaugurated Premier, the luxury air service of Pakistan Airline.
He said that the PIA has been acquiring aircraft on wet-lease basis. These aircraft are in brand new condition aimed at giving passengers a better experience, allowing PIA to start regaining its market share.
There will be weekly Premier service flights to London. Later, with addition of more aircraft, the service would be expanded to other destinations.
