Over 18 Afghan soldiers killed, wounded in Taliban attacks

GHAZNI CITYY – The Afghan Taliban have confirmed the clashes in Ghaznidistricts. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed six securitypersonnel were killed and a dozen wounded in the overnight attacks.He saidfour militants were also killed during the clashes.

Five uprising members and as many security personnel have sufferedcausalities in southern Ghazni province, an official said on Tuesday.

Mohammad Arif Noori, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News 29rebels, five security officials and as many uprising member were killed andwounded during clashes in Maqur and Andar districts late Monday night.

Mohammad Khalid, a resident of the Khashk area of the Ghazni City,confirmed the clashes. “We could not sleep a wink all night.” He had noinformation about causalities.

The governor’s spokesman added the Taliban stormed security check-posts insome parts of the provincial capital. As a result, a security official waskilled and another wounded. He had no information about Taliban causalities.

The insurgents also confirmed the clashes in both districts. Talibanspokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed six security personnel were killed anda dozen wounded in the overnight attacks.He said four militants were alsokilled during the clashes.
