Asif Zardari retracts statement on SSP Rao Anwar

KARACHI – With pandemonium erupting in the aftermath of statement praisingRao Anwar as brave kid, former president of Pakistan and Pakistan People’sParty (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has on Saturday retracted andregretted his remarks.It was stated in a statement issued in Islamabad today.

Spokesperson Senator Farhatullah Babar said that Mr. Asif Ali Zardari hasdescribed his words as mis-spoken and regretted any offence to anyone.

The former President also acknowledged in another TV interview today thathis words about Rao Anwar were indeed mis-spoken, the Spokesperson said.

“Enforced disappearances and extra judicial killings are twins of adeepening curse. It is unthinkable that the Pakistan People’s Party wouldsupport it in any form or manner, the Spokesperson said. The party’s recordin and out of the parliament is a testimony to it.

The former President realizes that his remarks made unwittingly in the flowof conversation may have caused anguish and has regretted it”, read thestatement.
