The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade's efforts to implement 49 MoUs (Memoranda of Understanding) with foreign and local investors during the Dubai Expo 18 months ago have proven unsuccessful.
As a result, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa lost out on a $8 billion investment. According to official documents, during the Dubai Expo on January 16, 2022, the provincial government had signed MoUs on investment in sectors like infrastructure, energy, special economic zones, and tourism.
However, there has been a lack of interest from provincial authorities in fulfilling the promises made in these MoUs. Therefore, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been unable to secure the promised investment from the 49 MoUs of the Dubai Expo Investment Conference.
The committee formed under the leadership of the Additional Chief Secretary for the implementation of these MoUs has also remained limited in its activities, holding only a few meetings
