Golen Gol Hydropower project : Project status and facts

LAHORE: (APP) Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman, Lt Gen (Retd) Muzammil Hussain urged the management of Golen Gol Hydropower Project to complete the project according to the set time-lines.
According to a press release on Friday, he expressed these views during his visit to the project being constructed by WAPDA in Chitral district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

On the occasion, the WAPDA Chairman visited various construction sites including weir (dam), diversion tunnel, powerhouse, switch yard and transmission line to review progress on the project.
The project management briefed the Chairman about the construction work done so far on the project.
It is pertinent to mention that Golen Gol Hydropower Project is being constructed on River Golen Gol, a tributary of River Mastuj. Power generation capacity of the project is 108 mega watt (MW). On completion, it will contribute 442 million units of low-cost hydel electricity to the National Grid every year.
