Former Pakistan cricket team captain, Shoaib Malik, has suggested to the current skipper, Babar Azam, that he should step down from his role as captain and concentrate solely on his performance as a player.
Malik's advice came in the wake of Pakistan's poor performance against India in a recent match in Ahmedabad. He emphasized that a single loss should not be seen as the end of the world for the Pakistan team and that it's a time for learning and moving forward.
According to Shoaib Malik, now is the opportune moment for the Pakistan cricket team to learn from this defeat and strive to make progress. He stressed the need for awakening and highlighted that there are still eight matches ahead, relying on the same 15 players.
Addressing the issue, he further elaborated, "Babar should relinquish the captaincy and focus on playing as a cricketer. I've made this suggestion in previous interviews, not just because of today's loss."
The former captain believes that Babar, when playing as a cricketer, has the potential to contribute significantly to both himself and the team. He added, "I think when Babar is in a leadership role, it limits his ability to perform outside the conventional boundaries."
