On Sunday, the interim government implemented significant price reductions for petroleum products. They lowered the price of petrol by Rs40 per liter and reduced high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs15 for the upcoming two weeks.
As per the Ministry of Finance's notification, the new rates are set at Rs283.38 for petrol and Rs303.18 for HSD. These changes are a response to international price fluctuations and an improved exchange rate.
The adjusted prices will be in effect from 12 am tonight, October 16, until October 31. During this fortnight, the prices for petroleum products are as follows:
- Petrol: Existing price Rs323.38, New price Rs283.38 (a decrease of -40). - High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Existing price Rs318.18, New price Rs303.18 (a decrease of -15).
Furthermore, the government also reduced the prices of light diesel by Rs19.59 per liter and kerosene oil by Rs22.43 for the next two weeks. As a result, the rate for kerosene oil will now be Rs214.85 per liter.
