In a significant political development, Farrukh Habib, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has severed his ties with his former party and aligned himself with Jehangir Tareen's Istehkaam e Pakistan Party (IPP). This move was announced at the IPP office, with Habib being accompanied by IPP leaders, including Aun Chaudhary.
Habib revealed that he had not been in contact with his family for the last twenty days and hadn't been home for the past five months. Reflecting on the tragic events of May 9, he mentioned that everyone was distanced from their homes and avoiding legal confrontations.
"In the midst of these situations and incidents, emotions often become highly exaggerated and, in reality, quite distant from the truth. I, too, became a victim of this turmoil," he expressed.
While acknowledging the support he had received, he stated, "My sincere friends helped me realize that this is not a conflict between kufr and Islam." He also commented on the vote of no confidence on April 9, describing it as a constitutional process, saying, "It is a part of the constitutional process, and it occurred as such."
Following the vote of no confidence, Farrukh Habib pointed out a state of unrest among the party's workers and the citizens of Pakistan caused by the leadership.
"Every time there were announcements of violent protests instead of peaceful ones. We were willing to endure hardships, but we always advocated for peaceful protests."
Farrukh Habib initiated his political career with the Insaf Students Federation (ISF) in 2007 and served as a Member of the National Assembly from August 2018 until July 2022, holding the position of a Minister of State from April 2021 to April 2022. He was considered a pioneering member of the ISF.
