ISLAMABAD - Joint investigation team (JIT) head Wajid Zia Tuesday submitted documents pertaining to the financial statements of Flagship Investment, Nawaz’s employment with Capital FZE and others to the accountability court during recording his statement.
The accountability court Judge Arshad Malik resumed hearing on last corruption reference against former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Nawaz Sharif appeared before the court at judicial complex along with his legal team. As the hearing began, the JIT head continued recording his statement even on second day as NAB witness before the accountability court judge in Flagship Investment reference and submitted annual financial statements separately.
During recording the statement, Wajid Zia also produced the record with the court comprising a copy of letter written to the Qatri prince Hammad bin Jasim by JIT, Nawaz Sharif’s employment contract with Capital FZE and charts pertaining to Hussein Nawaz’s income & wealth tax return and funds flow between offshore companies.
Defense counsel Khawaja Haris objected over the submission of documents and contended that the prosecution had not presented the JIT members as witnesses who visited Dubai to obtain record.
He stated that the salary slip associated with his client was not signed by any authority. He argued that these documents could not be presented as evidence against the accused person.
Later, the court adjourned hearing on corruption reference till Wednesday wherein JIT head would continue recording his statement on third day.
