ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host three back-to-back International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) $5,000 tournaments in Islamabad in December. Talking to APP on Sunday, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Secretary Sanaullah Aman said the first tournament will be played on December 4 while the second will be staged on December 11 and the third tournament would kick off on December 18.
“The three tournaments would be played in courts of Pakistan Sports Complex and PTF,” he said. He said ITF referee who was present in Davis Cup final between Pakistan and Thailand here was very happy with the security arrangements in the final in Islamabad and had termed Pakistan safe for holding any sort of international sports activities.
“The successful holding of Davis Cup final had led to allotment of more international events in Pakistan by ITF,” he said.
Sanaullah said foreign players from countries including Russia, Sri Lanka, India and many more are expected to be seen in action in these three tournaments while ITF officials would also visit here. “Foreign players would be provided fool-proof security and invitations would soon be sent to foreign players for participation in the tournaments,” he said.
He further said that Pakistan will also host the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group-I tie against Korea scheduled to be held from February 2 to 4, 2018. “ITF has allotted the Davis Cup tie to Pakistan which will be played on the grass courts of the Pakistan Sports Complex,” he said.
