Pakistan Cricket Board has taken decision on the appointment of a new captain for the one-day cricket team following Babar Azam's resignation.
Currently, due to the absence of a one-day match schedule for the next year, the decision to appoint a new captain for the one-day team has been deferred. The Test and T20 teams' captains have been formally selected, with Shaan Masood leading the Test team and Shaheen Shah captaining the T20 team.
The coaching staff has also undergone changes, revealing the name of the new head coach for the national cricket team. Media reports suggest that Mohammad Hafeez will take on the roles of the new coach and director for the national cricket team during the Australia tour. The formal announcement is expected soon.
Chairman of the PCB Management Committee, Zaka Ashraf, has barred the coaching staff from working during the Australia tour due to the national team's unsatisfactory performance in the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam's four-year captaincy term, marked by several memorable victories, has come to an end. After a meeting with PCB Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf on Wednesday, Babar Azam announced his decision to step down as captain.
