A diplomatic success for Pakistan at the UN General Assembly

The third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly has unanimously adopted a Pakistan sponsored resolution that called for countering disinformation for the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Introducing the draft resolution, Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the UN Munir Akram reiterated Pakistan's commitment to countering the virus of disinformation by all possible means.
He said Pakistan will continue to promote this by both national means and through international cooperation with member states and other stakeholders under the umbrella of the UN.
The resolution emphasized that business enterprises including online platforms and social media companies ensure that their commercial objectives do not undermine human rights.
