PEMRA issues show cause notice to Geo News

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Wednesday issued show cause notice to Geo News Television for telecasting unethical scenes in its morning show Geo Pakistan on Wednesday morning.
As per show cause notice, the channel showed live an unethical scene of a young couple which was against PEMRA Ordinance 2002, PEMRA Act 2007 and the electronic media code of conduct.
The channel management has been asked to submit a reply by March 29, otherwise unilateral action will be taken.
As per rules, PEMRA can impose Rs 1 million fine under section 29 or suspend or cancel the license of the channel under section 30.
