Afghan dacoits gang busted in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Special Investigation Unit ((SIU) of Islamabad police has busted a gang of Afghan dacoits and recovered weapons from gang leader, police said.

According to details, a dacoity took place in a Chinese house namely Zheng Zhaori residing at House No. 05 Street No. 33, Sector F-6/1 Islamabad on February 22, 2016. Four dacoits looted Rs. 3.8 million and two mobile sets following which FIR (No.75) was registered under section 392 PPC at Kohsar police station.

Following this incident, SP Investigation Capt (r) Muhmmad Ilyas assigned the task to SIU team comprising of Shams-ul-Akber SI, Suleman Shah ASI, Constables Waseem Iqbal, Ali Asghar, Sajid Khan, Hamid Shah, Shaheen Iqbal to trace out the culprits.

This team worked on the case using human intelligence (Informers) and technical assistance (mobile data analysis etc) following which it traced the gang of dacoits identified as `Mustafa Afghani gang' comprising of 5/6 dacoits. After hectic and professional efforts, the team apprehended the gang leader namely Ghulam Mustafa s/o Aziz Khan resident of Darra Noor Sarwar Wilayat Jalal Abad Afghanistan.

During the preliminary investigation, he confessed involvement in dacoity at the house of Chinese national and others at sectors F-7/1, F-6/1, F-10/3, G-9/3 and H-13.

All the other members of the gang are Afghans and they used to come in group from Afghanistan via Torkham Border to Islamabad using a rented car. They used to randomly select F or G sectors, target houses and took away all the looted articles to Afghanistan.

Police also recovered weapons from the nabbed person and further investigation is underway.
