ICC World Cup 2019 : Williamson highest run-scoring captain in WC history

New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has set a new record for the most runs scored by a Captain at a World Cup.

Williamson is regarded as one of the best players New Zealand has ever produced and has amassed over 13,000 runs since making his International Debut in 2010.

The 28-year-old has enjoyed a fine World Cup, scoring two centuries and two fifties to help New Zealand reach only their second Final.

Williamson’s contribution in the final took his overall tally for the tournament to 578, which is a New Record for a World Cup Captain.

Sri Lanka legend Mahela Jayawardene previously held the record after amassing 548 runs in the 2007 World Cup.
