EU lauds Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism

ISLAMABAD: (APP) The European countries have commended Pakistan's sacrifices and key role in the fight against terrorism and lauded the successes achieved in counter-terrorism operations.

This commendation came during bilateral meetings of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Ms. Federica Mogherini and Foreign Ministers of Portugal, Romania and Denmark with Adviser on Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on the sidelines of the 11th ASEM Summit in Mongolia on Saturday.

They also appreciated Pakistan's sound policies for economic revival and expressed their desire to strengthen trade and investment cooperation with Pakistan.

In his meeting with Ms. Mogherini, the Adviser briefed her on the positive developments in Pakistan, including successful military operation Zarb-e- Azb, improved economy, and reforms in the social sector.

They also discussed matters relating to GSP plus concessions, Readmission Agreement between Pakistan and EU, and avenues for future cooperation.

In meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Romania, Portugal and Denmark, the Adviser reviewed bilateral relations and exchanged views on important regional and international issues.

They agreed to reinvigorate bilateral cooperation with greater focus on expanding trade, education, and cultural ties.

The recent unfortunate events in Indian Occupied Kashmir also came under discussion with the Adviser emphasizing the need to respect the human rights of the Kashmiri people.
