MULTAN - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Member Punjab Assembly, Malik Mazhar Abbas Raan passed away at the age of 65 on Wednesday.
He was one of main politicians of Multan who represented people for a long period. Mazhar Abbas was suffering from cardiac and blood pressure complications and was shifted to a hospital in Lahore wherein he died. He was born on February 01,1953. He completed his graduation from Government Emerson College Multan in 1978. Mazhar Abbas Raan started his political career fromPakistan Peoples Party. In 1988, he contested from PP-166, against Shah Mehmood Qureshi and lost election. In 1990,he again faced defeat against Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
In 1997, he became MPA on the ticket of Pakistan Muslim League-N. In 2002,he was ticket holder of PML-N but faced defeat against PPP candidate Malik Arshad Raan. In 2008,PPP candidate Abbas Raan secured victory against him. In 2013, he once again became MPA on the ticket of PML-N after defeating Murid Hussain Qureshi. In 2018,he won election on PTI ticket from PP-218. The deceased was being shifted to Qadirpur Raan (Multan) from Lahore,said sources here.
