Israeli ex. PM Ehud Olmert sentenced to 19 months jail

JERUSALEM: Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is sentenced for 19 months jail in corruption case.

 

He was charged for bribery and obstruction of justice in the Holyland corruption case.

 

Olmert 70 was shifted to VIP Wing 10 of Ma’asiyahu prison to begin a 19 month sentence.

 

Olmert claimed that he is innocent and rejects all allegations but he accepted the sentence because no man is above the law.

 

Olmert was convicted in March 2014 for bribery charges during his service of Mayor of Jerusalem from 1993 to 2003.

 

The court claimed that it is proved Olmert accepted money for controversial real estate project.

 

This is first time in Israel’s history that a national leader is sentenced to prison.

 

Other high ranking officers are also imprisoned in Holyland real estate project.
