'Govt committed to improve socio-economic status of common man'

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain has reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to its engagements with the United Nations and acknowledged the contribution of UN agencies to complement the country's development needs.
He was talking to UN Resident Coordinator Neil Buhne who called on him in Islamabad.
The Minister said that incumbent government's is fully committed to improve socio-economic status of common man, eradicate poverty and ensure sustainable development.
He added that the government is looking forward to work closely with UN team in areas beneficial for the people of Pakistan.
The information minister informed UN Resident Coordinator that Lok Virsa is seeking assistance from UNESCO for safeguarding old music instruments as well as preserving great historical and cultural sites. It also includes the once battlefield between Raja Porus and Alexander the Great.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said media in Pakistan enjoys unprecedented freedom and the government is facilitating the growth of free and responsible media.
The UN Coordinator Neil Buhne gave an overview of the UN activities and engagements in Pakistan and appreciated the PTI government for according top priority to eradicate corruption.
