UN calls on warring parties in Afghanistan to seek political solution

UNITED NATIONS: United Nations has called on warring parties in Afghanistan to lay down their arms and seek a political solution to the conflict.
Voicing concern over extreme suffering of civilians after days of intense fighting in Ghazni, Head of the United Nations mission in Afghanistan Tadamichi Yamamoto said the Talibans attack on Ghazni has again caused terrible suffering to civilians.
He said the UN is ready to support any endeavours that would advance an Afghan-led negotiated settlement.
