After electricity crises, new government faces another serious crisis

ISLAMABAD: Along with electricity, water crisis is on the rise in the country and provinces are facing 26% water shortfall.

According to Indus River System Authority (IRSA) sources, Pakistan's largest dam Tarbela has been empty for 53 days after which IRSA directed the provinces for Joint Discharge Measurements (JDMs).

IRSA sources said that the flow of water in the rivers is 8000 cusec less than last year, the flow of water in Chenab and Jhelum rivers is not increasing and Punjab is being provided 52000 cusec water instead of 70000 while Sindh supply is 33,000 cusecs instead of 44,000.
