Federal government released huge amount for multiple hydropower projects

ISLAMABAD - The federal government has so far released an amount of Rs971 million for the construction of various hydro power projects in Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2018-19.

An official of the Kashmir affairs ministry told APP that the government had released Rs12 million for 48MW Jagran Hydro power project, Rs337 million for 20MW Hydro Power Project Hanzel Gilgit, Rs70 million for 34.5 MW Harpo Hydro Power Project Skardu and Rs552 million for 16MW Hydro Power project Nalter-III.

He said around Rs27,138 million had also been released for other development projects of AJK and Gilgit and Baltistan.

Sharing details of the projects, he said Rs782 million had been released for construction of Rathoua Haryam Bridge across reservoir channel on Mirpur Islamgarh road, Rs200 million for Mirwaiz Muhammad Faroooq Shaheed Medical College Muzaffarabad, Rs188.400 million for Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical College Mirpur and Rs160 million for AJK Legislative Assembly Complex.

To a question, he said, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government was determined to provide basic health and education facilities to the masses. He said the government was determined to carry out a number of initiatives in social sector for well-being of the public in AJK and Gilgit and Baltistan.

He said the projects related to the progress and prosperity of the AJK would be given priority.
