ISLAMABAD – Positive development reported from PM Khan’s crucial visit toSaudi Arabia, media reports have revealed.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to remain engaged and consult closelyto reduce Saudi-Iran tension. The agreement came during Prime MinisterImran Khan’s separate meetings with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saudand Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman in Riyadh.
During the meeting of the prime minister with Saudi leadership, Pakistanand Saudi Arabia agreed to take forward PM Khan’s initiative to ensurepeace and security in the region. “Pakistan is ready to facilitate effortsfor de-escalation of tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran,” Imran Khansaid in the meeting.
PM Khan stressed the importance of avoidance of military conflict andconstructive engagement of all the parties. He also reaffirmed thatPakistan will always be shoulder-to-shoulder with Saudi Arabia.
The Saudi leadership admired serious efforts of Imran Khan towardspromoting peace and stability in the region and the impact of thisinitiative on de-escalation of tensions.
During these meetings, Prime Minister also apprised the Saudi leadership ofgrave human rights and humanitarian situation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmirincluding continuous lockdown, curfew and other communication restrictionsfor 73 days that seriously imperiled peace and security in the region.
