ISLAMABAD — Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces announced thatcooperation between Iran and Pakistan is being broadened to bring peace andsecurity in the region.
In an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA),Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri said that Iran is committed forbetter relations between Iran and Pakistan.
He said that the US along with some other countries is trying to createinsecurity in the region.
The Iranian commander added that current task of Iran and Pakistan is toenhance bilateral friendship and coordinate with each other in order toachieve peace and security in the region.
Bagheri described Pakistan as one of the most important neighbors of theIslamic Republic of Iran, and said that the country with more than 200million People is interested to have strong ties with Iran.
‘Iran also attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan,’ headded.
Bagheri said that in November last year Pakistan Army Chief Qamar JavedBajwa had visited Iran and his visit to Pakistan is being carried at theinvitation of Pakistani counterpart.
He said that bilateral ties, defense cooperation, border management, waragainst terrorism, regional and international developments would come underdiscussions during his meetings with Pakistani civil and military officials.
Meanwhile, Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri met with Pakistan Chiefof Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa to further enhance militaryto military cooperation between armed forces of Iran and Pakistan.
He also called on Minister for Foreign Affairs Abdullah Hussain Haroon todiscuss bilateral ties, international and regional developments.
