Ramiz Raja lashes out at Fakhar Zaman following Sri Lanka defeat

Ramiz Raja, the former PCB chief, did not mince words when it came to criticizing the decision to include the struggling Fakhar Zaman in the Super 4 clash against Sri Lanka. This match ultimately resulted in Pakistan's elimination from the 2023 Asia Cup after a two-wicket loss.

Expressing his concerns, Raja highlighted Fakhar Zaman's recent poor form and troubling body language on the field. He remarked, "Fakhar Zaman's current performance is subpar, and his demeanor on the field is a cause for concern. I believe Fakhar should consider sitting out voluntarily. Additionally, on a slower pitch, Babar has faced challenges, except for a couple of innings. As captain, he needs to take assertive decisions."

Raja also expressed disappointment about the absence of two key players, Imam-ul-Haq, sidelined due to back spasms, and Saud Shakeel, who couldn't recover from a fever and missed the match.

Recounting the situation, Raja said, "On the morning of the match, Inzi declined to play in the semifinals due to sleep deprivation and stomach issues. However, he was pressured to play, as there seemed to be no alternative. He bravely took the field and played an outstanding innings. In Raja's view, players who are not in perfect condition should be willing to take risks if they aspire to become great players."
