Human Development Index: Where does Pakistan stand in the World?

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has gone down one place, from 149 to 150th spot, in the latest human development index (HDI) ranking issued by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Giving Pakistan an HDI value of 0.562, the report found that the life expectancy at birth in the country is 66.6 years while expected years of schooling are 8.6. Pakistan’s gross national income (GNI) per capita was said to be $5,311.

Pakistan was ranked among the countries with medium human development. It is worth mentioning that Pakistan was ranked 149 in the UNDP report of 2016.
