Babar Azam has declared his resignation as captain across all cricket formats. The announcement follows a meeting with PCB Interim Management Committee Chairman Zaka Ashraf in Lahore, prompted by the team's disappointing performance in the ICC World Cup.
Television footage captured fans and journalists surrounding Babar's car as he left the PCB headquarters, and the meeting reportedly centered on the future of his captaincy.
Ashraf also engaged with team director Mickey Arthur, head coach Grant Bradburn, and other committee members. The decision comes in the wake of Pakistan's poor World Cup showing, where they lost five of nine games, including a significant defeat by India in Ahmedabad.
Discussions on team strategy took place with former captain Younis Khan, along with ex-pacers Wahab Riaz and Sohail Tanvir advising against drastic changes before the upcoming Test series against Australia.
