Another big relief for former PM Nawaz Sharif

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) dismissed a contempt of court plea against Nawaz Sharif, the former three-time prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, on Wednesday.

The plea, filed in 2018 by a resident named Adnan Iqbal, was related to anti-judiciary remarks made by Nawaz Sharif after his disqualification.

Adnan Iqbal's contempt of court petition accused Nawaz Sharif of consistently disrespecting the judiciary and other state institutions through media channels.

Despite no representation on behalf of the petitioner during the court proceedings, Chief Justice Aamer Farooq dismissed the plea, citing non-compliance as the reason.
