PEMRA issues show cause notice to private TV Channel

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Monday issued a show cause notice to Express News TV channel for making mockery of newly appointed Sindh Governor with regards to his age and health.
In its programme Khabardar on Nov 12, host Aftab Iqbal and his companions cracked indecent jokes about Justice Saeed uz Zaman Siddiqui, which was against Islamic teachings and PEMRA code.
PEMRA received countless complaints about the programme. The channel has been given seven days time to file a response. Under the Section 29 PEMRA can impose Rs 1 million fine on the said channel or under section 30 it can suspend or cancel the licence of the said TV channel.
