Kuwait city: Coronavirus fear, Azaan amended by Religious Ministry asking people to offer Namaz at home instead of Mosque. In order to prevent spread of coronavirus, the religious ministry of Kuwait has amended call to prayers (azaan) as people have been asked to pray at homes instead of coming to mosques.
As the number of cases of novel COVID-19 surged to over 80 in Kuwait, the muezzins have been directed to replace Hayya ala al-Salah”(come to prayer) with “Al-Salatu fi Buyutikum” (pray in your homes).
The government has temporarily closed mosques in order to prevent the further spread of the virus in the country.
For amendments in azaan, the religious ministry has cited Muslim book Sahih Al- Bukhari which states that this kind of changes were made at the time of Prophet (PBUH) during heavy rains.
