India inflicting sufferings on Kashmiris through NIA: Gilani

In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani has said that India is using its National Investigation Agency alongside more than a million troops equipped with a deep investigative network to inflict more sufferings on the Kashmiri people.

In a statement issued in Srinagar today, he condemned NIA summons to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other Hurriyat leaders. Ali Gilani said New Delhi is using the probe agency and the Directorate Enforcement as tools to strangulate every voice of dissent in the occupied territory.

The Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement said the Indian authorities are deliberately prolonging the illegal detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists in blatant violation of right to justice.

Indian authorities today booked religious scholar and Jamiat-e- Ahle Hadees vice President, Moulvi Mushtaq Veeri under draconian law, Public Safety Act and shifted him to a jail in Jammu. Jamaat-e-Islami in a statement expressed concern over the arrest of its legal expert, Mir Assad Ullah, by Indian police with an aim to prevent Jamaat from approaching the court to contest its case.

NIA arrested three persons during its raids in Huller and Hanjala areas of Kishtwar district. Hurriyat leaders including Altaf Ahmad Shah, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar and Raja Merajuddin Kalwal languishing in Delhi’s notorious Tihar jail, told a court that the NIA was using delaying tactics to prolong their detention.
