Pakistan Army leads medal tally in National Shooting Championship

PESHAWAR: (APP) Pakistan Army was the leader on the opening day with four gold medals in the 24th National Shooting Championship, which got under way at Army Shooting Rnage, Jhelum on Tuesday.
On the first day Pakistan Army led the Championship with four gold medals, one silver medal and three bronze medals. Pakistan Air Force was struggling at the second place with one gold and a silver medal and as many bronze medals respectively.
Pakistan Navy remained third with three silver medals and one bronze medal, said a press release issued by the Pakistan Shooting Federation here.
Maj. Gen. Muhammad Chiragh Haider, Garrison Commander Jhelum was the chief guest during the opening ceremony. Championship is being hosted by Pakistan Army as is organized under the umbrella of Pakistan Shooting Federation.
In the Prone Rifle event for men, Pakistan Army won gold in team event which PAF and Navy bagged silver and bronze respectively. In the individual event Midrar of PAF won the gold, while Ghufran of Navy won the silver medal and Army's Siddique bagged bronze medal.
In the Air Pistol category for Women Naveela of Army won gold, Mehwish of Navy won silver while Farhat of Army won bronze medal respectively.
Similarly, in the Centre Fire Pistol event for men Army won the team fold while Navy grabbed the silver and PAF won the bronze medal. While in the individual category of the same event all the three medals were won by shooters from Pakistan Army. Khalil, Kabir and Qazzafi won gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
Apart from Pakistan Army, Navy and PAF other participating teams of the Championship include Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federal Capital Islamabad.
