Brexit : EU chief urges British Kashmiris to vote in favor of UK in EU

MIRPUR (AJK): (APP) Chairman Kashmir Council European Union Ali Raza Syed has urged British Kashmiris to vote in favor of
UK to stay in the European Union (EU).
It is important to mention that a referendum is being held in UK on Thursday, June 23, to decide whether Britain should leave or remain in the EU. A "Yes" or "No" answer to a question will be asked in the referendum.
In a statement released to the media here on Tuesday, the Chairman Kashmir Council EU has appealed to the Kashmiris based in UK to give answer "Yes" to the question in favoring United Kingdom to remain in the EU.
"It is in the best interest of Kashmiris because various members of EU Parliament (MEPs) from UK have supported Kashmir cause in the parliament," he pointed out.
He continued, this referendum is very important for Kashmiris as so far many of the MEPs from UK played significant role for raising Kashmir issue at EU parliament.
He added, MEP Dr Sajjad Karim is supporting the oppressed Kashmiris for last ten years and beside him, Raja Afzal Khan and other MEPs are also playing important role in context of Kashmir cause. Ali Raza Syed warned that if UK leaves EU, then it would be a difficult time for Kashmir cause as the issue will lose UK's support in the Parliament.
Kashmiris should join hands with hands of the groups which actively working in favour of UK to remain in the EU. He further said, Friends of Kashmir Group is working at EU Parliament and beside members from other countries, MEPs from UK Ms Anthea Mcintyre and Timothy Kirkhope are active figures of the group.
Chairman Kashmir Council EU also appealed to the British Pakistanis to come out on the day of referendum and support UK to remain in EU because it is also in the interest of Pakistan. He added that mostly British MEPs played decisive role at EU Parliament in order to give GSP+ status to Pakistan.
