Modern syllabus to be taught in religious seminaries

MULTAN:Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana on Wednesday said that education system of religious
seminaries could be further improved by introducing modern contemporary knowledge along with religious education.
He said this while talking to chief of Wafaqul Madaris Qari Hanif Jalandhary, here.
The Punjab Governor stated that the image of religious seminaries could be improved further in West by ensuring
provision of latest knowledge.
He said that in the past, religious seminaries were combination of both religious and contemporary education, adding
that known Islamic scholars and scientists including Albaironi, Razi, Al-Musa Khawarzami and some others emerged from such institutions.
He added the government was ready to offer facilities to the religious seminaries. A good number of students were
getting education in seminaries and they could play their important role for progress and prosperity of the country.
Qari Hanif Jalandhary apprised the Governor that steps were underway to modernize syllabus of the seminaries.
