Japan approves huge grant for Pakistan for Coronavirus fight

Japan will provide Pakistan grant of 1.54 billion rupees to fight against COVID-19.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Islamabad on Tuesday. Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Kuninori Matsuda and Secretary Economic Affairs Noor Ahmed were present in the signing ceremony.

The grant will be helpful for purchase of health related equipment, particularly ventilators and oxygen cylinders.

Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary Economic Affairs said we are thankful to Japan for its cooperation to combat COVID-19. He said Japan's assistance to Pakistan to control polio is also appreciable.

The Japanese Ambassador said Pakistan adopted an effective strategy against the pandemic, and it will hopefully better cope with the second wave of COVID-19 as well.

He said Japan will continue extending cooperation with Pakistan for its socio-economic development.
