Japan keen to boost ties with Pakistan in multiple areas

Japan, while acknowledging Pakistan's efforts in the war against terrorism, has shown keen interest to further enhance cooperation in multiple areas including counter-terrorism, infrastructure and social sector.
This was stated by Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Takashi Kurai while meeting National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. (retired) Nasser Khan Janjua in Islamabad.
Besides promotion of bilateral ties between Japan and Pakistan, overall regional security environment came under discussion during the meeting.
Both sides also agreed to increase the level of engagements to enhance the scope of bilateral relations.
Speaking on the occasion, Nasser Khan Janjua said that Pakistan considers relationship with Japan as a valuable asset and a solid foundation to build on more cooperative ties in future.
He also briefed the Japanese ambassador on overall security perspective of the region and on the positive role Pakistan had played for maintaining sustainable peace in the region.
