Privatization of PIA challenged in Supreme Court Lahore registry

LAHORE: A petition has been filed in Supreme Court registry to nullify the proposed presidential ordinance regarding the privatization of PIA. The petition was filed by the leader of Watan Party Barrister Zafar Ullah to stop the privatization of PIA. He argued in his petition that presidential ordinance has no constitutional importance for the privatization of Pakistan International Airline. Therefore, court should nullify the ordinance for privatization of PIA, he prayed the court. “The promulgation of ordinance two days before holding of assembly session was an unconstitutional step,” the petitioner has argued. The petitioner further added that recommendations of privatization commission are necessary for privatization and no institution could be privatized without it.
