Swabi: TTP Commander Adnan Rasheed's Right Hand Man Killed.

A man named Rahman ul Haq was killed yesterday in Swabi during a raid by the Counter Terrorism Department of the KPK Police during which a CTD officer has also received bullets and was subsequently transferred to the hospital. According to the Police IG Mohammad Tahir Khan, the operation was launched by an intra-provincial team of CTD officers based on credible information that Rahman ul Haq was a key facilitator of the deadly suicide bombing in Raiwind which killed 10 innocent people including Policemen back in March. The Police further revealed that “The ex-air force official killed in Swabi today was running his own Ghazi force and most recently wanted in not just providing the suicide vest to the bomber in Raiwand police post-bombing but also kept the bomber with himself”. The suicide bomber named Mujahid Yaqoob who blew himself up at a Police post in Raiwind was also from Swabi and had long-standing connections with Rahman ul Haq.

The Police stated that as the CTD team approached Rahman's location with an intent to arrest him, he opened fire on an Assistant Sub Inspector with a 9mm handgun who was later transported to the hospital with gunshot wounds. The Police team then retaliated - killing Rahman on the spot. Further investigation also reveals that Rahman ul Haq was a close contact of senior TTP Commander Adnan Rasheed as both of them were employees of the Pakistan Air Force, who were suspended for extremist activities - Adnan Rasheed is also from Swabi. The duo was also arrested for attempting to assassinate the then President, General Pervez Musharraf in 2003. Rahman ul Haq was later released, but Adnan Rasheed stayed in prison until he was broken out of jail by the TTP terrorists when they stormed the Central Jail in Bannu back in 2012 - Adnan Rasheed later fled to FATA and then to Afghanistan, where he is currently believed to be.

The family of Rahman ul Haq which he presumably kept in the dark about his activities staged a sit-in. One of the family members told media that the CTD stormed his house when he was sleeping and they only learned about the incident when an injured Police official and the body was taken to the local hospital. They however couldn't offer any explaination to the media, about how indeed a Police officer was 'injured' by gunshot wounds if Rahman was sleeping as they claimed and not firing at the Police team.
