Pakistan’s Ambassador to US Ali Jehangir Siddiqui in hot waters

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s Ambassador to US Ali Jahangir Siddiqui lands into hot waters.
Siddiqui has been summoned by the NAB in alleged corruption references on August 27.
Siddiqui faces charges of embezzling Rs40 billion, inside trading in stock exchange and investing in foreign countries that costed billions to the shareholders.
He is also accused of selling shares to government institutions on exhorbitant prices that allegedly caused a loss of Rs20 billion to the national exchequer.
Siddiqui, son of prominent businessman Jahangir Siddiqui, appeared before the investigation team and recorded his statement in as many as 19 inquiries on March 22.
Separately, NAB has also summoned Chaudry Pervaiz Elahi and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain along with relevant records for allegedly possesing assets beyond known income tomorrow at 11am.
The petition against them for possessing illegal assets of more than Rs2 billion was filed in January 2000, following which NAB initiated investigation against them on April 12, 2000.
