70th Independence Day celebrations in KPK and FATA

PESHAWAR (APP): Like other parts of the country the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan celebrated across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with national zeal and passion.
The day dawned with 21-gun salute in Peshawar. Different functions and ceremonies were held in all parts of the province and Fata country regarding the Independence Day celebrations.
The main ceremony in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was held at the Civil Secretariat in Peshawar where Chief Minister Pervez Khattak hoisted the national flag. The ceremony was attended by IGP Nasir Khan Durrani, Senior Minister Sikandar Khan Sherpao and others.
Guard of honor was also presented on the occasion. Special prayers were held on the occasion for prosperity and solidarity of Pakistan.
One-minute silence was also observed in respect of the national flag.
Speaking on the occasion the CM Pervez Khattak said that active nations cannot forget the sacrifices of their elders.
He said that Pakistan came into existence with great sacrifices and we would not compromise for its prosperity.
The government and private buildings and roads were decorated with illuminations, national flags, posters and banners for the Independence Day festivities.
