ISLAMABAD - Wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan took highest 20 points in YoYo test ahead of the upcoming edition of the World Cup 2019, slated to start from May 30 in England and Wales.
Rizwan proved his fitness on the first day of two-day fitness camp at National Cricket Academy (NCA) Lahore and became a strong prospect to travel with the team to the UK.
Skipper Sarfraz Ahmed and left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir have passed the fitness test. Both took 18 points each in YoYo test.
Hasan Ali and Shan Masood bagged 19 points to assure that they are fit to get into the World Cup’s squad which will leave for the UK on April 23.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez, Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, and Usman Shinwari also cleared the test.
Left-arm all-rounder Imad Wasim, Yasir Shah, and Mohammad Husnain failed to touch the fitness benchmark (17.4).
Earlier, the team management made it clear that those players who fail to clear the test will not get the ticket to the UK for a 2.5-month long tour which covers the world’s biggest cricketing event.
