FAISALABAD (APP): The new water supply project, Punjab Speed, has been completed transparently and it would not only ensure potable water to 100 per cent population of Faisalabad but also protect them from water-borne diseases, said Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Inaugurating phase-1 of French Water Project at Sammundri Road here Saturday, the chief minister said that the first phase of the project had been completed at an estimated cost of Rs 6 billion. The completion of its second phase with Rs 14 billion would ensure 100 per cent water supply to the entire population of Faisalabad city.
Vice Chairman Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Mian Irfan Mannan welcomed the Punajb chief minister and briefed him about performance of WASA.
Earlier, the CM also inaugurated Facilitation Centre (Khidmat Markaz) near General Bus Stand Faisalabad. The project was completed at an estimated cost of Rs 92.5 million to provide services of 17 departments under one roof.
The CM also laid foundation stone of Parking Plaza at Allama Iqbal Road. This roject would be completed with Rs 1.57 billion and play role in resolving vehicle parking problems in Faisalabad.
Later, the CM also inaugurated Sufi Barkat Ali Underpass and Flyover at Jhall Khannuana near GTS Chowk. The project was completed at an estimated cost of Rs 2.527 billion.
The CM also visited the residence of Pakistan Muslim League-N leader Chaudhry Sher Ali and discussed party matters with him.
Later, the CM left Faisalabad for Lahore in his helicopter.
