SHIBERGHAN: Three Daesh militants suffered casualties during a clash withTaliban link> rivals in Darzab district ofnorthern Jawzjan province, officials said Sunday.
Governor’s spokesman, Mohammad Reza Ghafori, told Pajhwok Afghan News theclash broke out after a brother of the Taliban’s shadow governor forSar-i-Pul province was killed by Daesh fighters.
He said both the sides remained in positions for attacking each other,terrifying local residents of Sardara and Almulk villages of Darzabdistrict.
There are rumors that Qari Hekmat, Daesh leader in the area, was alsoinjured in last night’s clash, but this could not be confirmed by detectiveorgans, Ghafori added.
Residents of Jawzjan said the clash between the two rival groups was a goodopportunity for security forces to launch operation against them.
Sohaila, a resident of Shiberghan, the provincial capital, said: “We alwayshear the government has launched operation against Daesh and Taliban, butthe current conflict between the two groups is a good opportunity forAfghan forces to take action.”
Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, was unaware about the conflictbetween Daesh and Taliban in Jawzjan.
Daesh and Taliban frequently engage in conflicts in Darzab and Qush Tepadistricts of Jawzjan over the several months.
