SC responds to PTI's petition over holding timely elections

The Supreme Court has rejected PTI's Constitutional Petition, which aimed to invalidate the Council of Common Interests' decision and ensure timely elections. The apex court's Registrar Office issued a letter regarding this matter on Thursday.

The Supreme Court deemed the petition "non-maintainable" because the petitioners didn't specify the questions of public importance related to the enforcement of Fundamental Rights guaranteed under the Constitution. Additionally, they didn't explain how their case directly falls under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court as per Article 184 (3) of the Constitution.

The Registrar's office pointed out that the petitioners didn't explore other appropriate legal avenues available for seeking the same relief and didn't provide a valid justification for not doing so. Furthermore, it noted that the petition contained multiple requests within a single Constitutional Petition.
